In 2014 pulling up a random recipe would eventually become Smoked Q, Inc. When the early sauce recipe was served during a large family reunion at the lake, the response was overwhelmingly positive and set the seeds for a handcrafted barbecue sauce. While that initial recipe sparked the idea, creating a unique barbecue sauce required experimentation over years of discovery, learning and development.
But as the sauce recipe took shape, in 2017 a new family challenge came about. Our son was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance. As we began to learn more we found our family reading every food label we picked up. As we read these labels everything had high fructose corn syrup or gluten or MSG. So it sparked the idea that making our own spices and food.
So with that, we began engineering spice blends, baking mix recipes and many other things to complement the barbecue sauce. Some were a success, many others were failures but we enjoyed learning as a family.
Through these experiences the idea to turn Smoked Q into a business offering small batch, handcrafted sauces, rubs & spice blends was truly born in early 2020. We had learned that there were so many others like our family, looking for food with ingredients you can read and understand. No fillers, no dies, no extras.
So while the far reaching impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic slowed our progress in 2020, we finally launched on August 19th, 2021. Now with knowledge gained through an MBA, some internet research & some stimulus money Smoked Q, Inc. is ready to enhance your next cookout or family meal with the initial offering of seven core products:
